The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly , Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye has warned against actions that could trigger or worsen flooding across the State.
He stated this at plenary in the ongoing rendering of account of stewardship by heads of ministries, departments and agencies in the state.
Aribasoye reminded Ekiti residents that the state has been prompted by flood predictors to brace up for some flooding experience noting that it has become imperative for relevant ministries and agencies in the state to wake up to duty and take expected actions.
He expressed worry over recent flooding experience in Ekiti State University, EKSU, Housing/Afao road axis, Ikole local government, and other areas adding that the experience led to loss of valuables by the hapless students and community residents.
The Speaker and other lawmakers who added their voices advised residents of Ekiti State on preventive measures and prompt action where danger is envisaged.
Meanwhile the Speaker has advised pension administrators in the Local Governments to adopt remote and online verification for pensioners in the state.
He emphasized the need to make verification processes less burdensome for senior citizens calling on the pension board to adopt smarter modalities.
Aribasoye sought the enlightenment of pensioners accordingly as he also
highlighted the need for pensioners to embrace the helpful policies of Governor Biodun Oyebanji aimed at ensuring prompt payment of pensions and gratuities to retirees.
