7th Ekiti State House of Assembly @ 3 Years

My Dear Colleagues, Honourable Members of the 7th Ekiti State House of Assembly,
Today, 6th June 2026, marks exactly 3 years since we were inaugurated on 6th June 2023. Three years ago, 26 sons and daughters of Ekiti answered the call of service. We walked into this Chamber with different backgrounds, different constituencies, but one shared mandate: To serve Ekiti with integrity, courage, and selflessness.
Looking back, I am filled with gratitude and pride.
This journey has been progressive because YOU made it so.
Your commitment, your dedication, your late nights in committee rooms, your selfless debates for the good of your people, and the unity you have shown even when the issues were tough, that is what built this legacy.
No Speaker succeeds alone. Every achievement we celebrate today has your fingerprints on it. For your support, for your loyalty, and for trusting this leadership, I say a deep E sé gan-an from the bottom of my heart.
TOGETHER, IN 3 YEARS, WE HAVE ACHIEVED:
1. We Modernized Our Legislature
We gave Ekiti Nigeria’s first fully digitalised legislative chamber. E-voting, paperless plenary. We remodeled this complex to 85% completion, built a digitized broadcast studio, launched a functional website, and procured a coaster bus for our duties. We moved from old ways to new standards.
2. We Legislated for the People
35 Bills passed. 33 have received assent and are now laws working for Ekiti people. 18 of those were Private Member Bills; proof that every constituency voice matters here. 69 resolutions approved out of 80 moved. 24 public hearings held. We didn’t just sit; we solved problems.
3. We Valued Our People
We established the autonomous House of Assembly Loans Board for staff welfare. We held 3 retreats + regular trainings with NILS and PLAC to sharpen our capacity for lawmaking, oversight, and representation. A motivated team delivers excellence.
4. We Invested in the Future
Through the “Speaker for 10 Minutes” initiative tied to our Legislative Quiz, we opened the doors of this Chamber to Ekiti youths. We told them: Leadership is a seed, and you are that seed. That is legacy thinking.
5. We Built Bridges, Not Walls
We enjoyed a seamless, rancour-free partnership with the Executive under Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. Because of that harmony, we passed people-centred laws without drama and delivered real results for our people.
6. We Earned National Respect
The world took notice. In 2024 we were adjudged the Best Performing Assembly on ICT Integration in Nigeria by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms office of the Presidency. Other Assemblies visited Ekiti to understudy our model. Ekiti is now the standard others follow.
My colleagues, these are not just projects. They are testimonies. Testimonies that when 26 people choose unity over division, service over selfishness, and Ekiti over ego, great things happen.
The road ahead is longer, but I am confident because I do this work with you. The 7th Assembly will be remembered not just for the laws we passed, but for the character we displayed and the foundation we laid for future Assemblies.
As we step into year 4, let’s renew our vow: More laws, more impact, more Ekiti First. The people who sent us here are watching, and they deserve our very best.
